What is ARA-290?
ARA 290 is a lab made peptide derived from erythropoietin (EPO). It was developed to capture EPO’s neuroprotective and anti inflammatory signaling without triggering the classic EPO effect of ramping up red blood cell production.
Mechanisms of Action
Innate repair receptor activation: Engages the innate repair receptor (IRR), turning on cellular programs tied to tissue repair and lower inflammatory signaling
Pain modulation: Supports small fiber nerve function in a way that can blunt neuropathic pain signals
Immune regulation: Helps rebalance inflammatory pathways, which can reduce chronic inflammation tone over time
Benefits
Small fiber neuropathy support: Reduced symptom burden in small fiber neuropathy contexts, including cases discussed in diabetes and sarcoidosis
Chronic inflammation recovery: May assist recovery states where immune dysregulation and chronic inflammation are central themes
Autoimmune related support: Research interest exists for symptom mitigation via reduced inflammation plus pro repair signaling
Dosing
Strength | Dose |
|---|---|
Low | .25-.5 mg per day |
Medium | 1 mg per day |
High | 2-5 mg per day |
Note: Because this touches repair and immune signaling, conservative practice usually means short defined runs, close monitoring, and skipping it when immune modulation would be a bad idea.
Safety Profile
Side effects reported in clinical contexts are minimal, and ARA 290 is generally described as well tolerated.
A key distinction vs EPO: it does not appear to raise red blood cell counts, reducing concerns tied to excessive erythropoiesis.
