What Is Epithalon?
Epithalon, also discussed as Epitalon in some sources, is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the sequence Ala Glu Asp Gly that is derived from epithalamin, a naturally occurring pineal gland peptide. In research discussions, it is primarily associated with longevity focused models, especially those evaluating telomerase activity, telomere maintenance, and circadian rhythm related signaling.
Mechanisms of Action
Stimulate telomerase activity, supporting telomere maintenance and chromosomal stability during cellular replication
Support circadian rhythm regulation through melatonin related signaling and pineal axis effects
Reduce oxidative stress related damage by improving cellular resilience against free radical stressors
Influence gene expression patterns tied to DNA repair, stress response, and aging related pathways
Benefits
Delayed aging related cellular decline signals and improved cellular health markers
Improved sleep quality and more stable sleep wake rhythm signaling
Immune support signals in aging and resilience oriented paradigms
Neuroprotective and ocular tissue support endpoints in select models, relevant to cognitive and vision longevity themes
Dosing
1mg daily for 20 days or 2mg daily for 10 days with protocols repeated twice per year.
Note: Some confusion comes from older Russian studies that used Epithalamin - a pineal gland extract at 10 mg per day. This is not the same as Epithalon. Epithalamin contains only a small fraction of the active tetrapeptide, while Epithalon is a pure, synthetic form, making it significantly more potent per milligram. For this reason, dosage comparisons should not be based on raw weight.
Safety Profile
Epithalon is commonly described as well tolerated in research and clinical discussions, with relatively few adverse effects reported. Some sources characterize long term use in anti aging style protocols as having supportive safety observations, but overall risk still depends on the individual context, protocol design, and monitoring approach. Medical guidance is typically recommended in the source material for personalized oversight.
